Our backstory
Pillow Canvas started with a fairly ordinary frustration in Toronto: too many décor stores were either ultra-minimal and cold, or they were packed with things that looked busy the second you brought them home. In 2019, Mara Levin — a retail buyer with 11 years in home goods — and Joel Mercer — who spent years in framing and art logistics — began building a smaller catalog around pieces people actually kept using.
That meant useful pillows. Not ten identical beige squares with new names. Better wall art scale. Framed prints that arrived intact. Textile pieces with fabric notes you could understand. Simple idea. Harder to do well.
